A lawyer is a person that practices law. They use their knowledge in solving personal legal problems for clients. Some can use their knowledge when it comes to advancing the interests of those who hire them to help with legal services. How they work varies across different jurisdictions. The definition of a jurisdiction is a geographical area within which a certain authority rules. Jurisdictions are based on conflict, constitutional, and public laws. One example of lawyers is international trade lawyer.

Lawyers have many responsibilities. This include oral arguments in the courts. They argue out a client case before the judge and sometime the jury. They therefor represent the client and speak on their behalf. Since they are more familiar with the court custom and procedures they make the legal process to run efficiently for the parties involved on both sides.

Parties that are not represented by legal council have the potential of ruining their own credibility in court. They also slow down court processes. Lawyers are responsible for searching and drafting court papers. Before arguments are argued before the court, they are presented to the judge in advance. For a well prepared argument, intensive and extensive research is needed.

They also have a responsibility of developing and managing relationships with clients. They should first meet up with the client to get to know them personally, to discover the facts of their case, what they want to accomplish. This enables them to develop various claims or defenses and also discuss about their fees.

When legal advice is provided by a lawyer, they apply abstract principles of law to what facts are involved in a case. The attorney advises the client on what they should do in their situation. It is a responsibility for lawyers to offer advice to their clients. Licensed lawyers are the only lawyers allowed to advise clients in some countries. If an attorney without a license offers advice in such countries, it may be considered illegal.

Lawyers also protect intellectual property. These include patents, building designs and trademarks. Protection can be provided by lawyers if they were registered with any of the associates in the government. Such protection can be offered by both licensed and unlicensed lawyers depending on the jurisdiction under consideration.

On the drafting of contracts, lawyers can bargain about the same. This can include two or more parties. This is because, the contract sometimes involves business deals, and family issues about child support. Sometimes it involves issues to do with companies. Lawyers can help the two parties not to go in court by solving the issue outside. This helps in reducing the cost presenting the case in court. The issues talked about are conscript and signed. The document is legal bringing two parties together.

There is involvement of convenience. Drafting of documents necessary for transference of property is known as conveyance. The property is transferred from one party to another. Examples of property include mortgages and deeds. Intent of the deceased is also carried out by lawyers. Rules governing a country should be upheld and practiced to the end by lawyers. In short, justice should not be served to people by lawyers to protect them from some parties that may be corrupt.
