British Virgin Islands Law Facilitates Justice

By Cynthia Cole

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is one of the best places to live, work, study, and do business. It is also a popular tourist destination. It has a number of tourist attractions. The BVI is one of the safest places in the world. That can be attributed to the proper implementation of British Virgin Islands law. In this part of the world, there are laws in place and they work. The BVI constitution lays out the responsibilities, rights, and freedoms of every citizen and resident of BVI. There is the freedom of movement. People can also worship in any way.

Without the law, injustice will reign in society. The innocent will never get justice while the guilty will go scot free. That will be a very sad state of affairs. Countries which have no justice are usually considered as banana republics. There should be a justice system in place. There must be a stable and functioning judiciary in a country.

Justice should not remain hidden. It must be seen to be done at the end of a day. Time is of the essence when it comes to the dispensation of justice. Actually, justice needs to happen in a timely manner. Delayed justice is just as bad as denied justice. As a matter of fact, justice has a time limitation in the BVI.

There are a number of personal injury laws. These facilitate justice to people who have been injured by negligent third parties. For it to be possible to sustain personal injury litigation, there are some requirements that have to be met. There is the requirement of materiality. The injury in question has to be material enough. It must never be trivial.

There are different types of personal injuries. A workplace injury is one of them. A good number of workplaces are not safe. That is because of the existence of defective machinery. An employer who does not replace defective machinery is simply negligent. Therefore, he deserves to face serious legal action. He needs to be sued by injured employees.

Criminal law facilitates justice to the victims of crime. Committing a crime is a very serious offense. A criminal needs to face the full wrath of the justice system. He should appear before a court of law and answer for the crimes that he has committed. Of course, a person will be innocent until proven guilty by the court.

There is a system of courts. At the highest level, there is Supreme Court. This is a court of last resort. There are also the lower level courts. Some cases can be filled in the magistrate court while others will require a filling in the high court. It is all depends on the seriousness of an issue at hand.

One will need to be represented in court or in a negotiation process. There is no one who can represent himself. It is just like one cannot treat himself. He will require a doctor. No doctor treats himself. Even a lawyer will require legal representation when he faces a court action. The best representation is needed. One should hire a top lawyer.
