What You Need To Know About CMAS Contract

By Jerry Rogers

The Federal Supply Service of the General Service Administration operates the federal schedule program. The FSS under the program rewards contracts and catalogs, which is commonly called as federal supply schedules, reflecting this contracts. These are used by the government buyers to placed orders directly with vendors that have schedule contracts and avoiding public bidding process.

MAS or Multiple Award Schedules are schedules of federal supply that awards contracts to 2 or more contractors with similar services or products at similar prices. The quantity of contractors which had gotten the award from a common bid or from negotiation process is what the multiple award is referring to and does not refer the customers. The California CMAS contract and the things to know about it will be stated below.

You can look for a CMAS contractor on the website if you are an agency of the government that is looking for one. When you want to request a copy of their contracts, they are contractually obliged to do so. The CMAS products and services, which both include information technology and those that are not, are limited only to 15 per contractor.

Now all services and products are available or obtainable through CMAS program. Works that involved licensed professionals like engineering, architectural, land and environmental are examples of these. Another set of examples are public works like erection, construction, alteration, improvement and repair of public structures.

Legals services and financial audits need to have approvals from their officials that are in charged. Before acquiring the services that is offered by the contractors, written approvals should be submitted with an explanation of their reason. Specific requirements and paper works must be done as well.

Their pricing must not exceed the pricing stated by the GSA. These prices are determined if the prices offered are fair and reasonable by comparing it to the prices they offer their commercial customers. Contract prices are connected to commercial practice so that GSA pricing may remain competitive over time.

The California State does not establish contracts through aggressive bid process but based on previously bid products, pricing and services offered and given on a GSA schedule. This does not mean that they use GSA authorized FSS but instead use a separate California contract in offering the same things. Once awarded, the contractor will then market and distribute it and provides once a quarter reports of their sales transactions.

The contract starts its term upon awarding and ending on the same referenced date by the Federal GSA Schedule. A three month extension is given to processing renewal or requesting extensions. Extensions and renewals do not automatically occur basing on the renewed or extended GSA schedule term.

There is no required fee in the application for CMAS. A one percent fee is paid to local government while there is no fee on the State agencies when they buy or acquire from the contractors. Small businesses that California certified as such need not to pay any incentive or administrative fees.
